Many sales teams cannot perform to anywhere near target and that’s become more apparent in the last six months. And it’s not because they cannot “sell”; it’s because they lack a framework that defines the sales role and that tracks and measures performance accurately. A lot of companies have installed “CRM” software with great hopes, only to find that it made no difference other than to take up administration and IT time with salespeople openly not using it. Others have attempted to train their salespeople in selling techniques, with no paybacks and no results.
The most effective sales teams are not full of highly talented “natural-borns”. The most effective teams work the right way, work hard, track activity and productivity and apply logic, measurement and processes to their selling day. They use a sales system based on a logical sales process.
Pat Cody, Chairman of the DEI Salesystem Group, will talk about how world-class sales operations use, install, train and run formal end-to-end sales systems that are light on software, but strong on measurement, common language, setting benchmarks, using tools and developing the salesperson. He will talk about his own experience of helping owners and sales managers to exert far more influence over the performance of each salesperson that doesn’t involve weird motivation techniques or traditional sales training.
Pat will talk the audience through the three key steps involved in building a world-class sales system designed to deliver accurate forecasts and consistent results. This is a must-attend talk for any manager who wants to improve the performance of the sales team in 2009 and in particular who needs to change selling and work practice.
