Swords Purple Flag
Fingal County Council and Fingal Dublin Chamber organised a workshop for local businesses in Swords Castle recently to bring Swords Purple Flag to the next level in promoting Swords as a dynamic, safe, clean and fun place for a quality evening and night-time experience for local people as well as regional, national and international visitors. The vision is for the town of Swords to become the go to place for shopping, entertainment, restaurants & pubs.
Each and every business in the night-time economy in Swords can play their part in achieving this vision through their input and support. This workshop allowed businesses to have their say and to put forward ideas on how Swords can best be promoted to grow the evening and night-time business in the town centre.
A number of new initiatives were agreed including the development of a Purple Flag Trail with Visitor Information Displays in a number of locations in the town with colourful maps to direct visitors to the various attractions including restaurants, pubs and shopping. A special Purple Flag Evening will be organised in late September to include special events to highlight Swords as a great place to visit.
A Swords Tourism Group is to be set up with its own website presence using the tagline “Visit Swords”.
Swords was awarded the Purple Flag last November which is the “Gold Standard” for Town Centres and is the highest internationally recognised award for the evening and night-time economy in Europe.
