  Business Awards 2009

The Fingal Business Excellence Awards 2009 celebrate business excellence in the Fingal Region and pay tribute to the talent, drive, innovation and success of the business community in the area. The Awards, now in their seventh year, are organised by the Fingal Dublin Chamber and recognise the efforts of companies to promote excellence in the quality of their products, services and customer care, and also the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the success of businesses in the area.

There were fifteen awards this year and they are listed below. Entry is free and the Awards are open to all businesses/organisations, both big and small, in the Fingal Region whether in the retail, manufacturing, services or tourism/hospitality sectors.  Spotcheck, the mystery shopping and business measurement-services company, carry out the judging and shortlisted fifty five entries to go forward to the final.

The winners were announced at the prestigious black-tie Gala Awards Presentation Evening sponsored by Fingal County Council and hosted by RTE’s Marty Whelan on Thursday 29th May 2010 in the award winning Crowne Plaza Dublin Northwood.

The Fingal Business Awards provide an important opportunity for the business community to come together in a spirit of vibrancy and optimism and to promote themselves and their staff by entering the various award categories. The Awards Ceremony showcased the best enterprises and recognise and reward business initiative in every sector.

Marty Whelan

Your Host for the Gala Awards Evening

Marty Whelan hosted the Gala Awards Presentation Evening in the Crowne Plaza Dublin Northwood Hotel on Thursday 29th May 2008.

Marty Whelan is admired and respected throughout Irish broadcasting for his affable personality and his effortless style.  Marty spent five years working in an insurance company before he made the break into radio in 1979.  That was the year RTÉ launched its pop radio station Radio 2, now 2FM, and Marty quickly won over large audiences for shows such as Drivetime and Marty till Midnight.  Rounding off his experience in daytime radio, Marty even spent three years presenting 2FM's Breakfast Show.

In the mid-Eighties Marty Whelan began developing his television career and he made an immediate impression as the first male presenter of the hit fashion programme Head 2 Toe.  Other popular TV shows followed, including the Where in the World quiz programme (1986-1989) and Video File (1983-1989), in which he interviewed major stars of the music world. He has also hosted RTÉ One's lottery show Fame and Fortune and was the master of ceremonies at the annual Rose of Tralee Festival for six years. Each year Marty prepares himself to host RTE’s coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Marty was hugely popular with award winners and all attendees at last year’s Fingal Business Awards and will be warmly welcomed back again this year.
