Dublin Airport facilitated more than
2.7 million additional passengers in 2006, a 15% increase
over the previous year. In all, over 21 million passengers
used the Airport in 2006. This growth is set to continue
with more than 23 million passenger expected through
Dublin Airport in 2007.
This year airport users will see tangible results to
cater for this growth with additional capacity coming
on line such as:
• Delivery of a new check-in facility, Area 14
is now complete providing 25 additional check-in desks
this area has the capacity to handle up to 4 million
passengers per year.
• Delivery of a major new passenger boarding facility
known as Pier D at the end of October this year.
• Planning permission has been sought for a 7,500
square metre extension to the north-western corner of
the existing terminal. This is due for completion in
2008.
• T2 is scheduled for completion in 2009 and will
have capacity for up to 15 million passengers. An Bord
Pleanála will hold an oral hearing into T2 shortly.
Dublin Airport now has a record 97 scheduled and charter
airlines flying to over 180 destinations internationally.
